serve something

homemade

We get it; you’re busy. Time seems to be in short supply nowadays, so takeout and pre-made dishes are an easy go-to. (Which is totally fine btw!) But when hosting a dinner party, our one rule is to serve at least one homemade (or semi-homemade) dish. Guests will be super appreciative and it adds to the atmosphere. Something simple to make that also really * wows * is fresh pasta. Pair it with Chef Michelle Bernstein’s creamy carbonara sauce and you’ll have everyone begging for seconds!

Give Your Table

Dimension

Your serveware doesn’t need to be matchy-matchy. Add mixed materials and varying heights on your table and voilà, you have a spread that’s begging to get ’grammed. If all your serving pieces are flat, plate tall and short foods next to each other to create dimension, like on this cheeseboard. After all, we eat with our eyes first — so make what you’re dishing out look even better!

GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR PLACE SETTINGS

Don’t hesitate to create a unique tablescape. Adding an atypical color to the mix really piques interest and draws those phone cameras out. Setting your table can be as easy as investing in a few seasonal pieces, a table runner or placemats, and a centerpiece. Take a cue from this place setting: the pops of pink in this otherwise neutral harvest-themed table are so chic, yet oh-so simple. Pin it now and try it later!

ENLIST SOME DOUBLE DUTY COOKWARE

This is an easy one! Invest in a few oven-to-table cookware pieces to make serving a breeze. Enameled cast iron pots last forever and they are b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Bonus? You’ll have less work washing dishes later. Score!
