The Dish On Clean Eating

       

 

Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about clean eating (there is even a magazine dedicated to the movement!). But, if you’re anything like us, you may be a bit fuzzy on the deets. To help, we did a little research to get the real 411 on how to eat healthier.

 

       

 

The first step in eating clean is to avoid processed foods. Remove excess chemicals from your diet by following these easy rules.

 

Rule 1: Read the label. Do not buy anything with more than 5 ingredients listed on the box, bottle, etc

 

Rule 2: Know what’s going in your body! A good rule of thumb is if you can’t pronounce the name of an ingredient, you probably shouldn’t eat it!

 

Rule 3: Of course, when you’re cooking from scratch, go wild with the fresh ingredients.

 

Rule 4: Visit your local butcher. Instead of buying packaged meats, buy whole and grind it yourself

 

       

 

Unlike a carb-less or all-meat food regimen, eating clean isn’t a quick fix weight-loss routine – it’s more of a food lifestyle change. Here’s a list of Dos and Don’ts to follow:

Directions: 

Rinse and cook quinoa according to the package instructions.

       

Add the cumin, coriander seeds, turmeric, and cayenne. (Don’t have all these ingredients? Invest in a spice rack!)

 

Season with salt and serve.
