Dessert is the best part of the meal – so much so that we at Food Republic are total advocates for eating it first! But unfortunately, if you’re allergic to gluten (or just trying to change-up your diet), tons of delish desserts are a no-go. Not to worry – here are some ways to enjoy baked goods and satisfy your gluten-free sweet tooth:

Switch it!

When looking for a gluten-free way to bake, start at the ingredients. There’s a lot of wheat flour alternatives around nowadays – like almond flour, rice flour or arrowroot flour.

Change it!
Some treats that are naturally gluten-free are easy to stock up on at your local bakery. So, try a few of our favorites:

Coconut Macaroons

French Macarons

Crème Brûlée

Rice Pudding

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Pavlova

Rearrange it!

When in doubt, handmade is best! This is one of our top cookie recipes – you’ll never even know it’s gluten-free!

image2.jpgWith a hand mixer, cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, egg, baking soda and salt. Mix until fully incorporated. Add almond flour, one cup at a time, until all has been added. Fold in chocolate chunks with a wooden spoon.

Use an ice cream scoop (or cookie scoop for smaller cookies) to measure out equal sized balls of cookie dough and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Flatten each ball to make thin, flat cookies then bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool before digging in!
