Planning a family vacation this holiday season? Travelling with kids can be a ton of fun but it can also be super stressful (see: Home Alone).  However, you can avoid the fate of Kevin McCallister and crew by being prepared! Check out my top 4 ways to make sure your journey is a joyful one.

1. Keep them timely.

Avoid the super annoying (I mean ADORABLE) chants of "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" by getting them their own watches! And if you make it fun and educational – by the time you arrive they may even know how to tell time!

Disney bound? Try this Mickey Mouse Watch

2. Keep them full.

Pack lots and lots of food! Snacks, in individual Ziploc baggies, are your best bet. Plus, save money by purchasing goodies in bulk and dividing them up them before you hit the road.

Road Trip? Try a cool lunchbox

 3. Keep them comfortable.

Plane trips can seem to take forever and sitting for hours in cramped quarters can make anyone cranky. Have them cuddle up in a warm fuzzy blanket featuring their fave animal to keep them calm.

Jetsetting? Try the Gund Comfy Cozy Blanket

 4. Keep them occupied.

Visiting a family member in a far-off (i.e. boring) locale? Keep the kids active with presents! It's obviously fun to open gifts. So, wrap a few new toys up and let them open one every few hours (for a short trip) or one each day (for a longer one).

Great tips! The Gund Comfy Cozy Blankets look so sofy and really cute. We don't have anywhere far to go this holiday season, but I may have to get a few to keep in the car for sleepy kids :smileyhappy:

These are great tips. I definitely need to keep them in mind for my daughter this year.

Such great tips!  We'll be going on our first family vacation next year, so these will come in handy!

Really great! You are so right, we never leave home without snacks or blankets. Since we fly standby, we each have our own stash of things to stay busy just in case our seats get split up. Thanks for the tips!

Funny I ran across this today -- about to head to the airport with the kiddo. Great tips, expecially about keeping them full. Having that stash of snacks is priceless, as you never know what the food offering will be on any flight (or if there even is one). Thanks!
