Rita Ora Talks Fragrance, Red Lips & Her Love for NYC

Remember that sick in bed time I mentioned last post? That also happens to be when the gorge and seriously talented Rita Ora was in NYC for the launch of Donna Karan’s latest fragrance, DKNY My NY. Not only is Ora the face of the campaign, she also hosted a fab event in Madison Square Park to celebrate the new scent, introduce the myny.dkny.com site (used to create the MyNY image collage above) and share some of the things that make NYC so unforgettable! While I had to cancel our in-person interview (a first for me!) and miss out on the event fun, I was fortunate enough to have some behind-the-scenes help to ask a few questions in my absence. A special thank you to Amy Pellicane, one of the many PR peeps who always has my back, for making this interview possible. Read on to get the dish on Rita’s personal fave NYC moment, her go-to red lip and to see more DKNY MyNY party pics.

TEM: From your involvement with the fragrance to launching myny.dkny.com today, what has it been like to work on this project?

RO: It’s been so fun. It’s been so free. There’ve been no rules. I love DKNY, and I love how accepting they are of me being a Londoner representing a New York fragrance.

TEM: How do you feel the fragrance captures the essence of NYC?

RO: The fragrance captures the essence of New York by being pulsing energy in a bottle. You know, I have so many memories of New York, like recording my first album here. It’s just got that beauty of kind of the vanilla essence and the freshness that a city can have even though it’s surrounded by horns and people and everything else going on.

TEM: What’s one of your favorite NYC moments or memories?

RO: My favorite New York City memory … Um, it’s probably when I first landed and stepping foot in the city. It was raining and cold and people were bumping into me kind of like ‘get out of my way,’ and (laughs) that’s exactly what I actually love about New York.

TEM: I think creating a fragrance is a lot like creating music, which of your songs do you think best represents MyNY?

RO: I think actually my song – I Will Never Let You Down. It never let’s you down New York, it never does. It always has something around the corner.

TEM: If you had to sum up the girl who would wear DKNY MYNY in three words, what would they be?

RO: Energetic, passionate & sexy!

TEM: I personally love your signature red lip. What shade or shades or lipstick do you always keep on hand?

RO: My Rimmel lip crayon, which I created with them, I’m really proud of it. Also, a bit of MAC Lipstick, Ruby Woo, the usuals.
