Next Stop: Austin, Texas (a.k.a. The Capital of Cool)

Beyond rocking the Summer’s latest trends and celebrating the things we cherish most about the USA, we love American Icons because we get the chance to explore a few of the country’s hippest locations, too. For our next stop, we went down South to the Lone Star State and, as a native Texan, I’m proud to talk about just how much fun we had. When the cameras weren’t flashing, we took some time to enjoy all that the city of Austin has to offer, and it’s pretty clear why they call it the Capital of Cool.

There’s no way you can visit Austin without jamming out to great tunes — hello, it’s the live music capital of the world! Known for a diversity of genres, be it swingin’ jazz from legends like trumpeter Jeff Lofton or the twangy country hits that inspired our looks for the day, there’s something special waiting for every music fan.

DKNY Jeans sportshirt, short-sleeve henley, Williamsburg jeans; American Rag maxi dress, Romen flat gladiator sandals; graphic tank top and belted Ricky shorts, Dawnn cowboy boots; tropical short-sleeve shirt; floral tank top; Bar III layered-look blouse and Miss Me flag shorts; Bar III mixed-media lace tee and Miss Me ripped pocket shorts.

Between fab turquoise accents, fringed booties and geometric patterns, we couldn’t help but fall in love with the Southwestern vibe around town. Thankfully, we had plenty of extra room in our bags for a few stylish souvenirs.

Almost Famous sequined tank top and Celebrity Pink shorts; Jessica Simpson printed kimono, v-neck camisole and cut-out embellished shorts, Colver western fringed bootie; Lucky Brand earrings, necklace and cuff.

Speaking of style, the weather gave us the perfect excuse to show a little skin. If we weren’t in a Summer frame of mind before, our tanks, crop tops and shorts certainly did the trick. You see? There’s a plus side to the heat, too!

David Buffalo Bitton tank top and fleece shorts; Ray-Ban 55 Wayfarer sunglasses, solo ear crawlers and necklace, Fossil multi-function watch, Olivia + Joy Adrienne crossbody bag; Material Girl printed crop top and matching skater skirt.

Last, but absolutely not least, we just had to sink our teeth into some authentic barbecue — trust me, you won’t find better anywhere else.  As the sun began to set, we added a few lightweight layers and ended the day with a tasty ice cream cone from Amy’s before hitting the ol’ dusty road.

Ray-Ban matte black red-mirror lens sunglasses; DKNY Jeans bandana batik print kimono, embroidered top and relaxed jogger pants; Lucky Brand Fender tee and cut-off shorts, bracelet.
