One of my favorite modern conveniences is that there are more players in the world of plus size design than ever before. However, I’m a discerning gal and a pretty tough customer – not every designer who claims to know about curves actually turns my head. Let’s see who’s really at the top of their game.
I really love American Rag for that cool, Americana-inspired, weekend vibe – demonstrated splendidly in khaki jackets and floral printed blouses. The brand creates those fashion-forward items you adore, easily begin to live in and soon can’t imagine living without.
Jessica Simpson is one who’s come a long way since her footwear-focused beginnings a few years back, recently launching a fabulous plus size collection. I am just loving what she’s doing in terms of fashion, and I appreciate how she puts the same energy and attention to detail into Plus as she does her traditional collection. So often in plus sizes the style or fit of the clothing is compromised and that’s simply not the case with JS. I adore her new shirtdress – so easy and fun to wear.
No list of MVP designers is complete without mentioning one that specializes in denim. This classic fabric plays a major role in our lives, so it’s key to be aware of a denim company that knows how to do it right for your body. That’s why I love Lucky Brand. While you likely already own a pair of their basic jeans, be sure to check out the new printed floral denim this season. They’re as figure-flattering as the standard Lucky jean, but more fun! Perfect for adding some interest to your look without overwhelming it.
Three cheers for the MVPs!
