starWhen was the first Macy’s Parade?

Our first Parade was in 1924, but it was actually called the Macy’s Christmas Parade. Instead of balloons, this Parade had live animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo, and the highlight of the Parade (and still is today!) was Santa Claus.

Felix the Cat! He made his debut in 1927.

Did you know?

Our Parade took a hiatus during During World War II (1942-44). And because there were helium and rubber shortages, we deflated and donated our balloons to the war effort.
