How to Make the Perfect Cocktails For a Night Out

Set aside the frozen margaritas ‘til next year! It’s time to break out the gin and vodka for the fall! Whether you’re getting ready for a night out in town or hosting a post NYFW happy hour (new fashion is something to celebrate, after all), Macy’s Culinary Councils Chefs Stephanie Izard and Ming Tsai have just the cocktails for you & your guests. Cheers to the new season!

2 oz Ford’s Gin
1 oz blackberry vinegar
1.5 oz Lime Juice
3 dash of lemon bitters
2 oz soda water

white vinegar
white granulated sugar

To make your own blackberry vinegar, put all the blackberries into a container and submerge in white vinegar and leave overnight. Pour contents of the container into a pot and heat up the mixture to make it soft enough to push through a strainer. Once heated, push contents through a strainer back into original container. Combine two parts blackberry vinegar mixture to one part sugar and pour into a pot and bring it to a boil. Heat for 15 – 20 minutes at a boil, or until thick, stirring occasionally. Remember to let cool before use!

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker except for soda water. Shake together with ice and strain into an empty Collins glass. Add soda water and ice, and garnish with a lime swath!

1½ oz Double Cross Vodka
1½ oz Ty Ku Black
¾ oz Grenadine Syrup

½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Long Dash Angostura Bitters

Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and give a hard shake, then double strain into a chilled Martini glass!
