HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT DAY & NIGHT SMOKY EYES

updated_hero_image

Sultry, alluring and famously elusive, the smoky eye is beauty’s most enduring trend. Everybody wants to do it, but how to achieve the look seems to be the challenge. Well, grab your makeup bag, ladies, because we’re breaking down two (yes, two!) ways to create the perfect smoky eye look. One uses nude and brown shades for daytime wear, while the other is everything you’d want your nighttime look to be, dark and mysterious. Now, are you all paying attention? Because beauty school is about to be in session!

1) Apply a neutral shade to your entire eyelid as a base.
2) Using a darker brown shade, create a C-shape from the center of your crease to the outside corner of your lid and down to the center of your lashline.
3) Add your lightest shade under your browline and in the inside corner of your eyelid to highlight. Blend all the shadows together. Apply a brown eyeliner along your upper waterline.
4) With a very thin brush, apply your darkest eyeshadow along your top lashline and smudge slightly. Complete the look with a coat of brown, lash lengthening mascara.

1) Start transforming your daytime smokey eye into a night out look by applying a charcoal shadow over the brown you used earlier.
2) Extend the eyeshadow into a cat-eye shape and softly smudge a small amount underneath your eyes.
3) Fill in your eyelids with a dark brown shadow. The more you apply, the smokier you look. Use a soft brush to blend the brown under your bottom lashline.
4) Finish with 2-3 coats of black mascara on your top and bottom lashes.
