As a girl who’s called Grand Rapids, Michigan home until last month, I admittedly have a soft spot for designers who share my Midwestern roots – Bobbi Brown, John Varvatos, and the always impeccable Pamella Roland to name a few. Each NYFW I’m backstage with the talented team from Laura Mercier covering Pamella’s Show, but this season I got a beauty bonus! Only a few short weeks after taking to the runway at Lincoln Center, Roland debuted her Pamella Roland Bridal Collection high above New York City. Not only were the dresses stunning and the makeup perfection, but The Glass Houses is one of my absolute fave locations. In fact, after dining with Alicia Keys and the Givenchy crew back in July, I shared that I’d like to have my own wedding there! No groom at the moment, but maybe I should take this as a good sign … In the meantime, let’s focus on how to recreate this wedding day beauty look. For Roland’s first ever bridal collection, top makeup artist Alexis Comforti created a flawless face that conveyed “classic, radiant and youthful beauty” evocative of a modern Audrey Hepburn.
“The key to this look is Laura Mercier’s classic formula, Silk Crème Foundation, which helps skin look radiant, fresh and photo-ready,” shared Comforti. She started by preparing the skin with moisturizer and then applied a mixture of two foundation primers, Laura Mercier Radiance and Hydrating formulas, to create an even canvas for foundation. Next, she used Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation and Secret Camouflage to even out the skin, leaving a flawless, radiant –looking complexion.
On cheeks, Alexis created a fresh, youthful glow using two shades of Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour. She first applied Rosebud on the apples of the cheeks and then faded the cheekbones with Oleander.
Eyes remained soft, muted and absolutely gorgeous if you ask me! Comforti started by covering the entire eye lid with Laura Mercier Wheat Eye Basics followed by a wash of Sateen Eye Colour in Guava. Finally, she lightly applied Fresco Matte Eye Colour in the crease, blending up to the brow.
To further define the eyes, Alexis used Laura Mercier’s signature “tightline” method, first pressing Mahogany Brown Cake Eye Liner underneath the root of the lashes and then on the top at the lash line, focusing colour at the center of the eye toward the outer corner. She then applied the same liner shade at the center of the lower lash line. As a finishing touch, Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara was used to create a flirty fringe of lashes.
Finally, Comforti created customized lip looks using four different shades of Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour, Pink Dusk, Mango, Brigitte, and Pink Blush. Each model wore a shade selected to complement the gorge floral vignettes where they positioned for the presentation. Pouts were polished off with a touch of Cosmic Lip Glace applied on the center of the lips to reflect light.
