Backstage from the Concrete Jungle to across the pond, nails are still making a major impact on fashion’s runways. Here, the four key trends that will be topping our tips come Fall. But really, when it comes to nails – why wait!?!?
Nude with a twist – True, there’s nothing new about a nude nail, but it’s also a trend that’s sticking around. Whether bright white, creamy taupe, or your perfect pink au natural, find your fave pale palette and go for it! The biggest change this season was talk of adding texture and dimension, think layering two different lacquers or finally giving matte topcoat a try.

Two-tone Tips – From ombre effects to a twist on the traditional French mani, if there’s a hero trend for Fall nails it’s absolutely the two-tone tip! Of course you don’t have to stick to red and black as seen here, but it’s definitely a duo worth trying. I’m personally obsessed with the matte black and metallic red mani (seen center) created for the Nicole Miller runway! I have a step-by-step and I promise to post ASAP.

Metallic – Gold, silver or glistening with glitter, sometimes opulent fabrics call for 10 equally opulent accessories! And honestly, what’s not to love about a gilded tip? Absolutely nothing! Worst case, it can be a bit tricky to get a smooth finish, but let me clue you in on a little instant mani mistake fixer … Glitter topcoats. Tap on some sparkle and cha-ching – $money$!

Pattern & Prints – Traditional fabrics and designer’s major statement accessories also seemed to inspire the creative nail geniuses working their lacquer backstage. From tweeds and hounds tooth turned downtown cool by butter LONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador Katie Jane Hughes to Miss Pop Nails for essie crafting the perf fairytale goth glam tips at Alice + Olivia, you ladies totally nailed it! LOL! Oh, and let’s not forget to thank essie’s Michelle Saunders for providing an answer to the question, “What do I do with my nails when I’m rocking some serious bling?” Take a cue from her gorge work at Jenny Packham and let it inspire your own demure nail designs! You ladies are brill & I’m already looking forward to seeing you next season. xx
